St. Valentine’s Day is celebrated around the world on 14 February. It's a day when the importance of love in any of its many forms is celebrated. Some consider it a commercial festival but it actually has a history going back centuries. In third century Rome, Valentine was a priest sentenced to death for secretly officiating the weddings of young lovers.

Valentine’s Day could be the most special day of the year, but it can also become a headache for those with no idea how to surprise that someone special. . It is possible to celebrate this date without material presentsor worrying about wrapping paper or a greetings card.

A good option is to gift experiences to be shared as a couple or with friends or family to create special memories..

To strike the right note with such a special moment, here at Nice by Nina we can give you the keys to organising an unforgettable meal at home.

The first thing we have to do is decide whether or not it’s sit-down meal or more of a standing buffet reception. For a sit-down meal, adapt the table to the number of guests. For a standing reception, you’ll have to redesign the space to adapt it to the situation and the number of guests.

The next step is to think about the menu. When it comes to deciding the menu, remember to consider any food intolerances or allergies and of course you guests’ favourite ingredients or dishes: a good host always knows what their guests like. This will be a sign that you’ve prepared the meal thinking about them and will be crucial in making your soiree a success.

Once the menu is decided, it’s time to think about the other elements: How to decorate the table Choose special table linen and cutlery that suit the time of year. Add a nice centre piece with flower and some candles. Opt for simplicity; remember the formula “less is more” always works.

Another important element to keep in mind is the music.. Keep it more relaxed at the beginning, and not too loud to allow comfortable conversation. For after-dinner drinks you can turn up the volume and play something with more of a beat.
